Professional construction with no design or manufacture labels present. This gorgeous hat dates to the 19teens and is styled as a straw cloche hat. The foundation of the hat is done in fine black straw with an interior mesh lining. The fit of the hat is trimmed with black grosgrain ribbon, the front edge of the hat is trimmed in a horizontal stripe black & ivory straw trim with a black and ivory white checkerboard ribbon layered just above. The front of the hat also features a criss cross of black grosgrain ribbon embellished with two small gold tone metal baubles with clear rhinestone centers. The hat structure features some tucks and folds, with an intended fit as shown at the top crown of the head.

Condition is listed as good minus with some cosmetic notations. The hat is structurally sound and 100% wearable. There is some overall lightening to the boldness of the black straw throughout and some general discoloration from age to the checker ribbon. I note 5 small surface tatters with some period repairs, these are generally unseen without close inspection however noted for full disclosure, please zoom on photos provided. I note some period repair to the rear grosgrain ribbon at the fit and a bit of end fray to the criss cross detail at the front. Overall presentation is still so stunning, particularly with regard to its significant age, a beautiful piece of millinery history.
