VTG OHAUS Black Cast Iron Apothecary Scale 1914-1940 Scientific Balance 2 Kilos
This black, cast iron apothecary scale was made by Ohaus in Newark, New Jersey. It has a capacity of 2 kilos and is dated between 1914 and 1940. In 1914, the company was incorporated as the Newark Scale Works. In 1947 the company was again incorporated under a different name, OHAUS Scale Corporation. The front label is worn off but the placard originally read: "Newark Scale Works", so it was made before the name was changed to OHAUS Scale Corporation. This scale was also made for Eimer & Amend of New York, NY. This company was acquired by Fisher Scientific Company in 1940; thus, it was made between 1914 and 1940.
Item works but unsure of accuracy.
Someone painted over the cast iron, so there are small pockets where you might see flecks of paint.
Otherwise in good condition with wear consistent with age and use. Feel free to use the zoom option as pictures are considered part of the description.
