In my 30 years as a thrift person, this is the first one of these I've ever come across...
An absolutely rare, Guild Leather made leather purse with brass frame and Art Nouveau styling!!! It has just the loveliest amount of wear -featuring a mild aging and coloration to the rich mahogany brown color leather (specifically at handle, lower area of one side, and middle section of opposite side). The leather is still very soft and supple -despite being over 100 years old- and the hinged frame with pull lock and kiss style clasp moves with ease. The interior is lined with brushed leather in a mushroom grey-brown color and there is a small flat pocket. The brass metal frame features a woven diamond pattern, while the exterior of both sides has a cross-mark stamping, along with very Art Nouveau style floral embellishments. Interior is marked 'Guild Leather' in very Art Nouveau lettering, the pull tab on the kiss clasp is marked 'Turnloc' and lastly, the interior frame has a patent date of '10-5-15'. Overall condition is very good with some of the gimped edging broken; two at base and 1 at handle, as well as light cracking to interior leather. No other flaws to note, only mild wear -please see photographs for full details.
