What attracted you to vintage? Buying it? Wearing it?

The quality. It’s unmatched. It’s no wonder these things have survived 50 + years. The workmanship was specific. It’s before they started getting cheaper replacements. The thread was even better.

What inspired you to open your vintage shop?

I was borderline becoming a hoarder. Don’t get me wrong, I would release and sell pieces, but not just to anybody. Are you going to take care this? Is this just for a look or are you really going to appreciate it? With vintage shoppers, they take more pride in their pieces.

Tell us a little about your collection?

It's “it girl” specific. I would say I am very designer logo heavy. That’s what I saw growing up so that’s what I gravitate towards. It’s all about statement pieces more so. Maybe it's a bag I remember or colorful set. Maybe the B- Girl with the door knockers outside of 7-11 when I was riding bikes.

As a black person in vintage do you think you offer a different perspective to the vintage marketplace?

Black vintage is a different style all together. It’s about the showing and proving. That look or one outfit that’s gonna stop and make those heads turn. We are proud people and we show it in how we dress, how we associate with folks, and more. But it really comes down to the looks. I also focus heavily on fur and making it affordable for black women.

Why do you think it's important to support black businesses?

I don’t mean to cause a ruffle but we started this thing called thrifting. Taking from leftovers and learning how to craft things better. It’s only right for us to continue as it rises in popularity amongst the masses.
