Vintage Slips

Glamour and comfort are sadly sometimes at war with each other. However, when it comes to vintage slips, there has never been a more apt pairing.


Slips became a big player in women’s fashion around the late 1940 and were typically worn as undergarments beneath dresses. Current fashion trends have essentially eradicated the original intentions of slips as modesty garments. Today, we are putting a modern twist on these vintage garments.


Today, instead of covering up the body and hiding under dresses, slips are often worn in their own individual outfit. This ensemble is simple as vintage slip dresses come in a variety of colors, making them easy to wear as a standalone piece.


Go for a sexy but chic approach with a vintage satin slip dress or a vintage silk slip dress. Both materials create a classy, glossy look, and when paired with the right pair of vintage high heels, you have a perfect outfit for a night out.


Vintage slips are also a great opportunity to experiment with layering. The vintage slips from the 40s and 50s typically come in more neutral colors. These would look flawless on top of a black turtleneck and a pair of vintage blue jeans.


Slips are no longer undergarments; instead, they serve as standalone, chic articles of clothing to rock at any event.
