Vintage Gucci

Gucci was founded by Guccio Gucci in Florence, Italy in 1921. Gucci primarily sold leather goods and branched out into equestrian equipment for wealthy British aristocrats.

In 1935, due to leather shortage, Gucci created luxury goods using woven materials and bamboo that remain popular to this day. The woven and now famous green-red-green stripe was introduced in the ‘50s.

Worn by Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Jacqueline Kennedy, the Italian brand became uber popular among wealthy Americans.

The horsebit loafer, first released in 1953, is still one of the most popular flats in the world.

In 1961, a Gucci handbag silhouette was renamed 'The Jackie” after Jacqueline Kennedy was seen carrying it. The double-G logo was also introduced around this time.

Around the same time, it created a logo (initially used to fasten bags) that is still used today: the famous double-G.

In 1994, Gucci hired Tom Ford as its creative director and introduced ready to wear to the masses. The new sexy imagery and designs became popular among celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez, and Madonna. He led Gucci for 10 years.

After 12 year working in Gucci’s design, Alessandro Michele was appointed creative director of Gucci. His designs revive vintage Gucci codes in new ways.

Gucci enthusiasts revere Gucci’s legacy and designs. Known for ushering in new vibe shifts, Alessandro’s reliance on vintage designs show that vintage silhouettes last the test of time.

Some of Gucci’s most searched for vintage pieces include vintage handbags, vintage shoes, vintage belts, vintage scarves, and Tom-Ford era vintage dresses.
