My grandmother made all my clothes when I was a child back in the 50’s. She taught me to sew. She taught me to order patterns and choose fabrics from the Sears and Roebuck catalogue. My mother taught me about shopping. Once a month on a school day, she and I would take a bus from our rural town of Wrentham to Boston where she would bargain hunt in Filene’s Basement. She taught me about quality clothes. Thanks to my grandmother and mother, I learned to appreciate beautiful clothes. For me, it’s about the fabric and design. I look for natural fabrics and established name brands. May Emery 2022
