It has shirred-gathered shoulder details, deep v-neckline and short sleeves finished with a floral-embroidered net fabric. The most stunning detail, however, is the Basque-style waist, dotted with a row of a dozen small, self-covered buttons (non-functional). Both bodice and below-the-knee skirt are gathered delicately into the waist piece. The left side contains a metal zipper closure. Skirt hem features a floral, scallop-edged lace. The overall condition is good, still very wearable with a few issues; a few tiny pin holes throughout (including one area at back skirt -see pics), a few repaired holes throughout, repaired and reinforced tears at either side bust, light discoloration\/lighteneing at left breast area, small green paint specks near and at hem, plus one tooth is missing from metal zipper (does not affect ease or ability of zipper). Black thick cotton embroidery between the layers creates a third, grey-pink tone for the petals and leaves. The embroidery is beautifully executed and in perfect shape -with not one stitch broken or out of place. A black decorative scallop edging satin stitch lines the bell sleeves and hem. There is an interesting hand-written message at bottom left hem (see last pic) and I believe it says 'Por Ani G.' ('For Ani G.' in Spanish and I do suspect this dress is of Central American origin). The shoulder area also features an unusual design detail: an extra gusset-shaped panel of fabric with the sleeve gently gathered into lower seam. Center back closure features an 18.5\" length metal zipper and metal hook + thread eye. Entire dress is lined with a brighter sunny yellow, super shiny woven acetate fabric (see last pic) and has a metal center back zipper, with metal hook \u0026amp; threaded eye closures. Only label is a Union-style tag, that has faded, but 'lot' can be seen. The overall condition is good and wearable (with some care) with many weakened area of the fabric throughout (I have stitched the more major tears and then backed all tears and weak areas with fusible interfacing to stabilize these tears) and two small pink stains under left breast -please see pics for full details. (These panties began to become more fashionable, as women stopped wearing step-in style undergarments, and embraced a more form-fitting silhouette of the 1930's). They feature a side-button closure with the tiniest shell buttons (original buttons were missing when this piece was purchased, I have replaced the buttons with the most historically accurate buttons I had, antique buttons from around this time, or older). What truly makes these underwear so wonderful, though, are the personal touches; embroidered floral clusters and single flowers throughout, cotton mesh edging with pink embroidery finished with tiny dots -all in a soft palette of pastels!
