40s Pleated Front Mens Dress Pants Blue Black Gab Stripe

DETAILS: An elegant pair of men's pants, probably mid to late 1940s. I am basing that on the fact that there is a separate waistband as opposed to the earlier "Hollywood waist". The fabric used leads me to think these may have been made to be worn as part of formal day attire with a morning coat. However, classic formal day trousers would not have turn-up cuffs. These trousers have a single pleat on each front, straight column legs and turned up cuffs. Five total pockets, including 2 side seams, 2 back, and a small watch pocket inset into the outer waistband. Belt loops will accommodate a belt up to 1. 25" wide. Some photos are lightened to show detail.

SIZE: No size label.

These pants are made as was typical for the era, with extra seam allowance in the center back so the wearer could have fit of waist easily customized. This pair has an extra 2" available to be let out if needed.

Pant legs can also be lengthened several inches by letting down the cuffs and taking down the hems.

Waist - 32" (81 cm)

Front rise - 13. 5" (34. 25 cm)

Hips - 46" (117 cm)

Inseam - 31" (78. 75 cm)

Bottom leg circumference - 19" (48 cm)

FABRIC/COLORS: From a distance, black with a subtle pinstripe. Move in close, and suddenly you see an elegant and complex weave that combines very dark blue with black. The blue is mostly seen in the gabardine/twill weave sections that are separated by narrow black woven stripes. The inner waistband and pockets are done in a lovely unbleached broken twill cotton.

TAGS: No tags at all.

CLOSURES: Waist closes with a tabbed button plus a sturdy flat metal hook & bar, with a 10" white metal Conmar zipper.

CONDITION: The right sideseam pocket has a fairly large hole at the base that looks like the former owner put something there that ate a hole on it - see closeup. It's a nice deep pocket, and you should be able to eliminate the bottom 2" of pocket and still have plenty of room left. I do not see any other issues.
